This charming canyon home has a serene back yard with multiple patios perfect for the indoor-outdoor California lifestyle. The home had been touched by greatness in the past. Acclaimed Interior Designer Steven Chase (a top 100 designer in AD magazine) fashioned the interiors. A vaulted sunroom which cantilevers into the canyon was added - primarily for the prior owner's pet cockatoo! The current owner wanted b+d studio to further expand the home. By placing a new addition at the front of the house (maximizing the lot by touching the front setback), we preserved the sweeping views to the rear. Materials and detailing blend seamlessly with the existing home to create a cohesive whole. The massing and articulation of the addition and new entry porch dramatically altered the flat facade and created a commanding new street presence.

Highrise Discovery

Challenge- The owners purchased an adjacent condo with the desire to merge these 2 distinct units into 1 luxurious 3400sf residence.
Solution-  We adhered to strict HOA guidelines and complex building department reviews (which demanded minimal changes to the high-rise building) in order to merge these 2 units. By carefully reconfiguring the floor plan to eliminate duplicity while enhancing amenities such as a master spa with steam shower and top of the line Miele appliances (featuring salt water softening dishwashers and steam ovens) - visitors never even suspect that this open, flowing custom residence used to be 2 smaller "cookie cutter" units.
